2005 Heart of the Arts Awards CelebrationTHE HEART OF THE ARTS AWARDS CELEBRATION took place on Sunday, October 2, 2005 at The Forum in downtown Binghamton to honor individual achievement in the arts community and to kick off the BCAC's 2005 United Cultural Fund campaign. Nearly 200 people attended the awards presentation, which featured entertainment by professional and community performing artists and a delicious reception in the Forum Recital Hall, provided by Number 5 Restaurant. We thank our other major sponsors: Coughlin & Gerhart, LLC; Sentry Alarms, Frederick R. Xlander Law Offices; Oakdale Mall; Carr Printing; and Canandaigua Wine Group. THANK YOU! For their significant contributions to the arts in Broome County during the past year, the Broome County Arts Council proudly presented the 2005 Heart of the Arts Awards to:
In honor of their long-term contributions to the arts in Broome County, the BCAC proudly presented the Heart of the Arts Award for Lifetime Achievement to:
Congratulations to All! The BCAC also congratulates Heart of the Arts Award nominees: David Armstrong and Stuart Green of Magic City Music Hall; JungleScience Gallery owned by Brent Williams and Lauren Grace Thompson; Peter Klosky , Exhibit Director, Roberson Museum and Science Center; William Loso, Treasurer, Binghamton Community Orchestra, and the Welsh Society of the Southern Tier. We thank you for all for all that you do to enrich our community through your commitment to the arts, culture and quality entertainment. The Heart of the Arts and Lifetime Achievement Awards were created last year to recognize significant contributions to the arts in Broome County. 2005 is the second year for the awards. In 2004, theatre director John Bielenberg, pianist Irene Kanazawich and painter T.W. (Ted) Whipple received the Heart of the Arts Awards. This year, BCAC expanded the awards in number, in scope, and in the nominating process, inviting nominations from the community of United Cultural Fund recipients and submitting the slate of nominees to the BCAC membership. Their votes determined the recipients of the Heart of the Arts Awards, while a vote of the BCAC Board of Directors decided the Lifetime Achievement honorees. The Heart of the Arts Awards Celebration represents the entire community and -- with Celebration proceeds now going to the BCAC's United Cultural Fund grant program -- it directly serves and strengthens the arts environment for the people of Broome County. With the continuing support of the community, the BCAC will present Heart of the Arts Awards again in 2006 Click
